This Is How We Do It - Photoshoot Day

Photoshoot days are always so much fun but can be exhausting! So today I am sharing some tips on how I ensure the photoshoot day runs smoothly.

1. Plan & Prepare

Having a plan is really the key to mastering photoshoot days! From planning outfits, selecting a location, hiring a photographer and/or mua, and deciding on what types of shots you want. Usually, during the week of my photoshoot, I am spending a lot of time planning and preparing. I am drawing inspiration and really getting myself into the mindset of having an amazing shoot!

2. Outfit Selection

Make sure you decide on how many looks you want to shoot in and exactly what you plan to wear! Also double-check with your photographer to know the exact amount of looks you can get in the allotted time. I try on all outfits and take pictures of them beforehand to ensure I love them. There is nothing worse than getting to your shoot and not loving your look. This also includes remembering handbags, jewelry, shoes, and do not forget additional undergarments (such as shapewear and/or a strapless bra). I usually shoot in the most complicated looks first and the most relaxed looks at the end!

3. Location, Location

Having a location in mind to shoot is very helpful. Many photographers will already have locations in mind, but always look up additional spots to share with your photographer. Decide on the location based on the type of look you want so make sure you select an appropriate location. For example, maybe a park for a picnic shoot. Sidenote: Consider if the location has a place for you to change clothes.

4. Photo Inspiration

Before your shoot look at your favorite influencers or bloggers and see if you can use them as references for your shoot! Maybe someone did a cool pose you want to try; never feel like you must reinvent the wheel! Save these in an album on your phone so you can pull them up and easily execute them on photoshoot day!

5. Photoshoot Emergency Kit

Prepare a photoshoot emergency kit! Mine has the following binder clips (to tighten loose clothing), safety pins, double-sided tape, edge control, loose makeup powder/makeup brushes, Kleenex, and the list keeps growing! You never know what could happen so this little kit helps me handle any issues that arise!

I hope these tips helped you! Remember to wake up early, eat a good meal, feel confident, and just enjoy the experience. The more you shoot the better you will be.
